We love our Volunteers!
Volunteers are always welcome at Codman Community Farms, whether you’re interested in helping with the chores, collecting and cleaning eggs, planting, painting or fixing – we will always try our hardest to find a place for you! Some people help out on a regular basis, some seasonally and others on a one-time basis. Groups, teams, and individuals are all welcome.
On Wednesday nights throughout the season, we gather for a community potluck and to catch our meat chickens before they are sent to harvest early the next day. This event is a great way to connect with the farm, with your food, and with friends new and old.
If you’re interested in volunteering at Codman, attending a chicken catching is a great way to start. Contact our Volunteer Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up or for more info.
2019 Chicken Catching Schedule
Weds 8/14, 9/4, 9/25, 10/9, 10/23 from 7pm - 9pm
Want to get your hands dirty and get to know the farm a little better? Join us on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 pm. Work varies with the day and the season, but could involve planting, harvesting, general farm clean up, splitting wood, or anything else happening around the farm! The minimum age to volunteer at Codman is eight, and you must be thirteen or older to volunteer without parental supervision.
To sign up for a shift, complete the volunteer application below, and include the shift you would like to sign up for. After you have completed one (1) shift, you may sign up for multiple at a time. For our scheduling purposes, we ask that you sign up at least a week before the shift you would like to work. We try to accommodate all ability levels, but as we are a working farm, the work often involves moving, bending, navigating uneven terrain, and lifting moderate weight.
